This watch surprised me in a few positive ways. First I was pleased with the nice tin it came in. Even when I’m picking something out for myself, I am always looking for items that are nicely packaged and would make nice gifts. This one fits that description. I picked the black with gold trim because the color gives such a classic look, and the white numbers stand out on the black background for easy readability at a glance.The materials listed are accurate to the product as I received it. I included a photo of the back of the watch which is clearly marked as having a stainless steel casing and a leather band. I’ve been wearing the watch daily, and by this point, I would be able to tell if it wasn’t leather. Leather stands up to scratches and scuffs very differently compared to the various iterations of “vegan leather” on the market, and this is leather. I have not tested its water resistance, but based on the rest of the aspects of quality, I have no doubt that getting splashed in the course of normal daily use would not harm this watch. I still intend to take it off to shower, etc., as I prefer not to take the chance.It’s comfortable to wear, and is not heavy enough to feel like a weight on my arm, yet it’s substantial enough to I don’t feel I’ve forgotten to put it on. So the balance there is just right. I have a tiny wrist, and this watch is just the right diameter for me, striking the balance between small enough to fit on my wrist without looking like I’m a child trying to wear my father’s watch, and also being large enough to see easily (unlike many dressy bracelet watches for women).Overall, whether you’re making a purchase for yourself or someone else, this is a nice watch made of good materials, comes in an attractive tin, and is offered in a range of colors to suit lots of preferences. And the price is right; you can’t beat affordable quality.Just on a personal note, this watch in black and gold has a delightful resemblance to one which my father purchased for me when I graduated from 8th grade. I loved that watch so much that I wore it daily until it literally came apart from normal wear. Wearing this one now gives me a sense of nostalgia, almost as if that long-ago gift has returned in a small way, reminding me of the pride of receiving my father’s gift, my very first real watch.
