This is a beautiful diver’s watch that is also a lovely traditional-style watch. It weighs a substantial 132g as supplied with the stylish and practical rubber strap.End-to-end, the strap, tip-to-buckle, measures approx 10¼ inches (258mm), and I estimate that the holes will allow it to fit wrists ranging from about 5½ – 7¾ inches (my wrist is 6¼ inches and the third of the 8 holes in the strap was a tight fit)It is easy to wind and to set the date and time, but once wound up, it becomes self-winding from wearing it.The face is an attractive green colour and is easy to read by virtue of having nice wide hands and clear dots or dashes where numbers are traditionally sited. It has a standard-sized second hand, so no risk of accidentally confusing it with the minute hand during a quick glance, and there are fairly inconspicuous little “tick marks” to mark the individual minute/second positions. The minute/hour hands and dots/dashes on the watch face are luminous, so shining a bright light on them for a short time means they can easily be seen in the dark for several minutes afterwards. The bevel turns one way only, and clicks neatly 120 times during each rotation, so is perfect for timing dives etc with an accuracy of half a minute. When not needing this function, setting it to the default position means you have numbers marking every 10 minutes around the traditional watch face with easier-to-see marks inbetween (see photos).During the first day of wearing, I think it kept time to an accuracy of about 10 seconds, but the listing says it should be +/- 2 seconds per day, so I think this was probably me being out rather than the watch. I didn’t wear it for a couple of days and the watch stopped and needed re-winding manually and the time re-setting, but this is consistant with the instruction book that says a full winding will keep it going for about 40 hours. The watch exterior is very smooth and the lugs are rounded with an angled profile ensuring that no matter how big or small the wrist is, the strap connects beautifully with the wrist and there is nothing that can catch or snag clothes or wetsuits.I haven’t been diving since receiving the watch, so can’t comment on how it performs at depth, but on the surface, it makes a stylish and functional everyday watch, albeit perhaps better suited for a man, or lady with a larger wrist due to its size and weight.

Firstly, the build quality is exceptional. The 44 mm steel case with a transparent sapphire-glass back adds a premium feel, and the scratch-resistant materials ensure it remains pristine even after rough use. The unidirectional bezel with engraved numerals is both functional and visually appealing. The watch is waterproof up to 300 meters, making it perfect for diving and water sports. I appreciated the highly legible display with luminescent material, which made it easy to read in low-light underwater conditions. The automatic self-winding movement is reliable and gives the watch a sophisticated mechanical charm. Additionally, its precision (-2/+2 seconds per day) is commendable for an automatic watch. While the watch looks great, the 44 mm diameter feels bulky, especially for those with smaller wrists. It’s not the most comfortable option for everyday wear. The screw-down crown at the 16 o’clock position, although unique, takes time to get used to and might not appeal to everyone. The price point is quite high compared to other watches in the same category, especially when considering that it doesn’t include advanced diving features like depth measurement or dive logs. Lastly, while the sapphire crystal is durable, fingerprints and smudges are more noticeable, requiring frequent cleaning to maintain its polished appearance. My Final Thoughts, The Cressi Sea Lion Watch is a fantastic choice for diving enthusiasts who value durability, style, and precision. However, its bulky design and limited functionality outside of diving might not make it the best all-around watch. If you’re looking for a rugged, reliable dive companion, this one checks many boxes, but know its limitations.
